It will be necessary for the nature of the superannuation interest to be identified (accummulation fund, defined benefit or other), the timing of the entitlement determined (in the growth or payment phase), and the value of the entitlement ascertained. Expert financial advice may be obtained to ensure the most effective means of 'splitting' the superannuation interest (including age eligibility, taxation and Centrelink considerations).
