Vanessa Mathews is the founder and managing director of Mathews Family Law & Mediation Specialists, and has the rare combination of social work qualifications and experience, combined with nearly 20 years’ experience as a lawyer and mediator; it makes her approach to resolving legal relationship issues both sensible and sensitive.
She is a fully accredited family law specialist, mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner with a commerce degree – adding a financially astute aspect to her practice.
Vanessa has extensive experience in complex issues that arise from relationship breakdown, and works in partnership with her clients, who regularly describe her as empathetic.

Originally hailing from Adelaide where she studied and practised primarily in family law, Kuppy Nambiar is an accredited family law specialist who has practised in Melbourne since 2000.
She is also an instructor at Melbourne’s Leo Cussen Centre for Law, where she teaches the fundamentals of practising family law to lawyers, law students and legal support staff.
With experience in the legal areas of commercial, personal injury, conveyancing, wills and probate, estate litigation and even a smattering of criminal law, Kuppy is able to deal with the diverse range of issues that can arise during the legal conclusion of relationship breakdown. She deals daily with property settlements, arrangements for children, child support, divorce and injunctions.
Kuppy is known for her focus on the best possible outcome for clients – one that is the most cost effective and least stressful as possible.

Jeremy commenced his legal career with Mathews Family Law & Mediation Specialists in 2010, following his graduation from Monash University with degrees in Law and Arts, and worked with the firm as a family lawyer until 2014. After continuing his work in family law at a mid-tier firm for a number of years, Jeremy returned to Mathews Family Law & Mediation Specialists in 2018 as an Accredited Family Law Specialist.
Since commencing practice in 2010 Jeremy has worked exclusively in the area of family law and during that time has acted for clients in all facets of family law including property settlements, parenting proceedings, child support, intervention orders, international and third-party matters.
Jeremy prides himself on providing clients with sensible and cost-effective advice with a sound legal basis, but which does not neglect the human element of family law disputes.

Kristian graduated from La Trobe University with degrees in Arts and Law.
Kristian was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in February 2016
Kristian joined Mathews Family Law & Mediation Specialists in 2016.
In addition to his legal work supporting Vanessa and Kuppy, Kristian manages the firm’s online divorce practice and family dispute resolution / mediation practices. Kristian is fluent in Italian
Kristian is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Emily joined Mathews Family Law & Mediation Specialists in 2018 whilst completing her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees at Deakin University.
In her role as Legal Administration Coordinator, she is responsible for the day to day management of the office and support of the legal team.
She is the first point of contact for clients and referrers and prides herself on her friendly and efficient manner.
Emily also volunteers as a paralegal during night service hours at the Eastern Community Legal Centre.
